Tara Mahoney and the Gen Why Media team are presenting their second “Bring your Boomer” party. The idea is ridiculous AND inspirational. You should go!
=================
TOPIC:
Change everything. As technology and globalization speed forward, the generations are becoming more divided. ‘Bring Your Boomers’ brings three generations of influencers, innovators and idealists together to dialogue around how we can re-imagine civic engagement in order to collectively shape our city, province, country and planet.
DIALOGUE FORMAT:
We will have two on-stage dialogue sessions – each consisting of a Gen Y’er, X’er and Baby Boomer, sharing ideas and stories that unpack what it means to be an “activist” and how we can turn activism into a common social practice.
SPEAKERS:
- Judy Rebick (journalist, political activist and feminist) – BOOMER
- Phil Fontaine (previous National Chief of Canada) – BOOMER
- Andrea Reimer (Vision Vancouver City Councillor) – X’er
- John Richardson (Pivot Legal Society / Party X) – X’er
- Emily Hunter (environmental advocacy journalist) – Y’er
- Jamie Biggar (Co-Founder and Executive Director of LeadNow.ca) – Y’er
ENTERTAINMENT:
Crowd engagement by Mike Sheehan from Beatboard, theater performance by Tiger Milk Collective, a magic show, door prizes and local art. Music by renowned recording artist Aidan Knight and special guest.
WHY:
We believe that a positive message makes all the difference. Our goal is to contribute to an inclusive culture of independent thinking, cultural alternatives, progressive politics, racial integration, art, music, creativity, intelligence, peace and respect for all living things. But we need to work together – across generations, ideologies and disciplines in order to re-imagine a different society.
